Safe Bedfellow
Psalm 4:8
I will lie down
in peace and sleep,
for You alone, O LORD, will keep
me safe.
(NLT)
King David was a man after
God’s own heart; a man who was able to lie down and sleep in peace even though
his bed was that of hard barren ground and his enemies were in hot pursuit and
quickly closing in. David was able to
sleep, because he knew God would protect him, even while he slept. And much like David, we too, are being hunted
down and pursued by a relentless Enemy who wants to destroy everything that
belongs to God. Satan and this fallen
world will never grow weary in their quest to destroy the human race,
especially the Church of our Lord God and Savior, Jesus Christ. God's most powerful enemy will indeed succeed
in destroying you without the armor of God as your protection. Once we are born again, the battles for our
hearts, souls, and minds intensifies, because while we lived apart from God, we
were already dead in our sin. But as a
Christian with the power of God in you, you are a threat to Satan's plan, and
for the reminder of your earthly life you will be fighting the ungodly and evil
forces of darkness that have enslaved our world.
Our Christian lives become a
battle field when we stand for the Truth, and the enemy will try to discourage
you, deceive you and draw you away from God's protection. But as a Christian you will learn how to
fight and win the battles that come with every new day. The Lord does not call us to Himself so we
can become complacent and comfortable in our salvation, but to put on the full
armor of God and defend our faith. God
calls each of us to fight for the privilege of being called by His Name, and to
help those who are trapped in the darkness of sin: those who are unaware of the
spiritual battle for their souls. Never
doubt the spiritual warfare that is raging, my friends, for the battles are
increasing as the devil's demise grows closer.
And the only way we can lay down and sleep in peace, is by knowing that
whether we wake up in this world or not, we will be in the arms of the Savior,
the most powerful and faithful Bedfellow ever!
A
Whisper of Hope
Let Me cover
you, dear child...with My love
and protection. There is no better place to lay your head than on My promise of
safe-keeping. And whether you awaken
from your earthly slumber or not, you are safe with Me. You need not fear the darkness that is
closing in, for I am with you always.

Peter 5:8, 9
Be careful! Watch
out for attacks from the devil, your
great enemy. He prowls around like a roaring lion,
looking for some victim to devour. Take a firm stand
against him,
and be strong in your faith. (NLT)
Every word of God
proves true.
He
defends all who come to Him for protection.
(Proverbs 30:5)
