“Secret Treasure” 

 Colossians 2:2-3

My goal is that they will be encouraged and knit together by strong

ties of love.  I want them to have full confidence because they have

complete understanding of God’s secret plan, which is Christ Himself. 

In Him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. (NLT)

     Even though this first century letter from the apostle Paul was written to encourage the believers in Colosse, it is also a message that every Christian today should pay close attention to.  God is giving us some good pointers on how to avoid being deceived by the many false teachers who are still busy spreading their false doctrine to the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ in order to confuse and mislead us.  Because the satanic power of the devil is driving this fallen world, it has infiltrated the Church from its very beginning.  So just as it was in the first century AD, the message of our Lord God is being twisted and rewritten to justify the endless array of sinful pleasures that we love to indulge in.  Many churches claim they are teaching sound biblical doctrine, but they are really compromising God’s sovereign authority, misinterpreting His holy Word, and spreading the lies of Satan—that this life is all about you and what you can get while the gettin' is good—that we are the captains of our souls and God is whomever we want Him to be—that He is just too loving and too kind to send people to Hell so they can suffer in the fire that never goes out. 

     The world is bursting at the seams with false teachings and it is spreading rapidly throughout the entire world via the Internet.  World wise scholars are teaching us smooth sounding philosophy that is utterly foolish, and it leads us down paths that are both futile and eternally dangerous.  The world says that true wisdom and knowledge are hidden away from most of us and are only found in a mystical experience from a higher knowledge.  Many of these false teachers claim that this “secret knowledge” is only available to a few select elites with the highest IQ and a special calling.  But that is not true, for God's secret plan is not hidden from you. my friend, it is for everyone to know.  It is easily found in the pages of God’s Book, clear and concise words that are simple to understand and clear enough to follow.  All the wisdom and knowledge you will ever need comes from the Author of Life.  He has written your story to never end, but you must be born again to find the secret treasures of eternal life.  

                           A Whisper of Hope

Come close, dear child…and listen carefully, for it is by hearing and believing My Word that the treasures of life are revealed.  Do not be duped by the world’s nonsense, because its treasures last only a moment!

Romans 16:17-18

Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people’s faith 

by teaching things that are contrary to what you have been taught.   

Stay away from them. Such people are not serving Christ our Lord, 

they are serving their own personal interests.  By smooth talk and 

glowing words they deceive innocent people.  (NLT)
