Living Wisdom
Psalm 1:1-2
Blessed is the
man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor
stands in the
path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But
his delight is in the Law of the LORD, and in
His Law he meditates
day and
night. (NKJ)
There
is no doubt that God blesses those who walk with Him in faith. There is also no doubt that all who continue
to follow the sinful ways of this wicked world and die in their sin will regret
the unwise choices they made. When your
life-journey is under the direction and protection of God’s gracious favor—when
you choose to follow His will for your life, you will receive many blessings
from the Lord that brings peace amidst the chaos and a preserving joy for the
difficult days that lay ahead. When you
live in obedience to the Word of God, you learn to avoid the crafty and
sin-filled devices of this wicked world, which if unabated, will trap you in
the darkness of evil that it so boldly embraces. God’s Word teaches us and the Holy Spirit empowers
us to not only be gracious with those who have chosen to follow the world’s
ungodly ways, but to also be a witness to the goodness and healing touch of the
Savior, Jesus Christ, rather than conforming to the ways of the world in order
to be a part of the crowd.
Even
though we Christians, too, are sinners by nature and continue to sin, we have
been set apart from the wicked by the blood of our Savior. And by the power of the Holy Spirit we are
able to discern the company we keep so that we can remain justified by God’s
grace and continue growing in our quest to live and love like Jesus. Christians find no pleasure in the company of
atheists and their scornful mocking of God and Christianity, because we know
the Truth and have a much better way to live and a glorious way to die. Be ever so careful, my friends, because the
seat of the scoffer is dangerously close to the pits of hell. You must stay clear and flee from its grip,
because the seat of evil may seem pleasingly comfortable in the moment, but its
cushion will eventually sink and swallow you up for ever.
A
Whisper of Hope
Listen
not, My child…to the tempting voice of the wicked, or to those who embrace the
darkness of this world. I know the pull
is strong because of your sinful nature, but embrace Me instead, and I will
give you strength when you are weak and wisdom when you are confused. And in
the meantime, stay clear of those who would steal you away from the Light and
into the darkness that consumes.
2 Peter 1:3
As
we know Jesus better, His divine power gives
us
everything we need for living a godly life.
(NLT)
He who trusts in his own heart is a
fool,
but whoever walks wisely will be delivered.
(Proverbs 28:28)
