“Heart in Hand”
Psalm 51:10, 12
Created in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit
within me.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your
generous Spirit. (NKJ)
It is from the fallen human
heart that sin and evil begins. And from
the heart it goes into the mind where it grows to take action, and although the
forbidden fruit seems pleasing enough to the eye, it is poison to the soul. Everyone is born with the nature to sin first
and enjoy it. Since sin is our nature,
we love our sin more than we love our God, causing us to rebel against the
holiness of God. The evil powers of
Satan are responsible for the curse, and it's futile to combat on our own,
because it's a power much greater than our sin corrupt wills can restrain. No matter how hard we try, we tend to succumb
to its power even though we are aware of the possible consequences. And what is even more unfortunate, is that
most people go about their lives happily sinning away without a clue to what is
at stake—that they are wasting their short precious lives on the very things
that are pulling them away from God's saving grace and the eternal glory that
is theirs in Christ Jesus.
It is for this very reason
that the Lord took matters into His own hands and physically came into our
broken world to break the chains that held His people in bondage to sin and
death. And when His mission was
completed, He sent the Holy Spirit to show us the Way to remain free from the
powers of Hell. The Lord came, the Lord
saved, and the Lord provided, but He left the decision to us: We can choose to remain living in our sin and
suffer the consequences later, or we can choose a life in Christ so we can
enjoy the glorious rewards later. But no
matter how strong or how good you may think you are, the Enemy will find a way
to sneak in and plant the seeds of sin into your mind, where it will either
take root and grow, or be discarded and thrown out by the Power of God. The
heart is the rudder for your life-journey and unless the Lord has it in His
hands you can be sure that the sin in your heart will steer you on a long, dark
journey that is far removed from the wonderful life-journey the Lord is calling
you on.
A
Whisper of Hope
My
Power in you…is sufficient, dear child. You
are born with sin in your heart and if gone unchecked will lead you on a journey
of unending darkness. Come to Me and I
will give you a new heart and restore what is broken. Come to Me, for I AM the Restorer of hearts and the Giver of Life.
Psalm 34:18
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted;
He rescues those who are crushed in spirit. (NLT)
“I will give them
hearts that will recognize Me
as the LORD.”
(Jeremiah 24:7)
