“God's Rescue”
Psalm 73:2
But as for me,
I came so close to the edge of the cliff.
My feet were
slipping and I was almost gone. (NLT)
Much like the psalmist who
penned these words, I, too, (like so many others) was almost over the edge of
the abyss, but unlike the psalmist, I (like many others) was unaware of the
danger or the need to be rescued. I knew
little about the horrors that awaited me when I ended up in Hell. I just wanted to escape the pain and
hopelessness of my life in this depressing world that made no sense. I could not conjurer up a good or believable
reason why I existed, or where it was all headed. I had heard rumors of how good Heaven would
be and how only a few were actually good enough to get through the pearly
gates. And even though Hell didn’t sound
so good, I thought how much worse could it be than living in this horrible
world that thrived on violence, death, and the suffering that most of us go
through? But as I was creeping closer to
the end, I was rescued by a Savior, the same God who created me. The Good Shepard literally reached down from
Heaven and grabbed me before I went over the edge and into the abyss. He sent me a human angel to intervene in my
self-destruction and then I was introduced to Jesus, who began to pull me out
of the darkness that was draining the life out of my soul. I was saved and redeemed in God's
rescue.
Jesus Christ is the only
Savior we have, for all others are cheap imitators who will trick you into
taking the bait that Satan puts before us.
These deceitful, clever traps of the devil promise you much, but the
lies are dangerous and futile, for they only lead into a horrible nightmare
from which you may never wake up from.
How I thank our Savior for taking the punishment I so rightly deserved
by dying the death He did not deserve.
If you want to know the Truth about life and death and about Heaven and
Hell there is no better place to start than on your knees with your hands
raised high towards the heavens, praising the One who created you, then paid
the price to save you. Christ Jesus is your only Hope for salvation. There are no other ways. These are the options my friend: God or Satan; life or death; God or the
world; light or darkness; sin or righteousness; right or wrong. For with God
there is no middle ground and no gray areas.
You are either for Him or you are against Him.
A
Whisper of Hope
Take My hand,
dear child…let Me pull you back into the land of the living. Once you were dead in your sin and slipping
into the darkness. I came to rescue you from the darkness and to give you the
eternal Light of everlasting life. Take
My hand and hold on tight!
Proverbs 18:10
The Name of
the LORD is a strong fortress;
the godly run
to Him and are safe. (NLT)
O LORD, You alone
can heal me,
You alone can save.
(Jeremiah 17:14)
