In His Grip
Psalm 40:2-3
He lifted me out of the pit
of despair,
out of the mud and the
mire.
He set my feet on solid ground
and steadied me
as I
walked along.
He has given me a new song
to sing,
a hymn of praise to our
God. (NLT)
It is
only by the mercy and grace of God that anyone is rescued from the grips of
evil that consume this fallen world. I,
like many others, can testify to the truth of these words written by King
David. The Lord is ever present,
fighting for our hearts, minds, and eternal souls. He is forever ready and always willing to
help us when we find ourselves stuck deep in the muck of this dark world—when
we are trapped in the grips of the Enemy who relentlessly seeks to destroy
everything that God created. Satan, once
the most beautiful and mightiest of all God’s angelic beings, is now the god of
this fallen world, and He with his band of other fallen angels are much too
strong for our limited human strength and abilities. The only hope we have to successfully battle
the constant onslaught of enemy attacks is found only in the Power of God. Without His power and grace, no one would
escape the fiery pits of Hell.
Whenever we come to the throne of God’s mercy seat, and surrender our
lives at the foot of Messiah’s Cross, we receive everything we need to win the
battles of good and evil that have been fighting each other since the dawn of
time. When we have the resurrection
power of God living in our hearts and the Holy Spirit fighting the battles that
we cannot win, Satan loses His grip and we are set free from the darkness that
threatens to swallow us up. And once we
are out of the pit of darkness that breeds hopelessness and fear, Jesus sets
our feet on solid ground for the rest of our earthly life-journey, for we are
safely in His grip forevermore.
A Whisper of Hope
Live
in Me…and I will live in you. When you are in My grip you remain safe and
out of the powerful hands of evil. The
forces of darkness are much too strong for you alone, dear child, but with My
power in you, you will overcome. Living
in Me brings life to the fullest.
Hebrews 4:16
So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God.
There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace
to help us when we need it.
(NLT)
Do not tremble or be
dismayed, for the LORD
your God is with you wherever you go.
(Joshua 1:9)
