The Best
High
Lamentations
3:37-39
Can anything
happen without the Lord's permission?
Is it not the Most
High who helps one and harms another?
Then why
should we, mere humans, complain when we are
punished for our sins? (NLT)
If we are to know what this
life is truly all about, we must look to the very beginning of its
creation. And it is our LORD God who
started it all—it was His idea and His plan. He created us in His image so we
could fully enjoy the eternal life He created us with. He made us to live in
close fellowship with Him, so we could learn the incredible mysteries of His
glory and being and creativity. Unlike
our infinite God who has always existed, we are finite, hand created beings
that are very limit in our nature, whereas, God has no limitations whatsoever. He
has seen the entire picture that the He created and directs it from start to
finish, and it all reflects awesome His glory. Without understand-ing these basic
truths, all we do is busy ourselves, running about doing this and doing that,
going here and going there, but without a real concrete plan in place,
especially the plan that extends beyond this life.
It is the Lord who designed
our entire existence and it is He who holds our destiny in His hands. It is the
Lord God who decides who will live and who will die. He will choose who He disciplines and who He
does not. Although we have a free will
to do and say what we want, it is God who has the final word in everything. God
does not need us to help Him along. But as our Father we must understand that
He disciplines us because He loves us. Being
our Heavenly Father, He knows what is good for us and what is not. He does not
enjoy seeing anyone of us suffering like we do, but it is a bi-product of sin
and decadence. Without our Sovereign Guide, we would all be totally lost in our
sins, enjoying every minute of it and then be condemned for it. We would be
blind and unaware of the dire consequences of our seemingly, mindless actions
of self-indulged pleasure. If you are living anyway you like, my friend,
without knowing the Lord, you would have been better off being an animal, for
they have no conscience nor are they created to be eternal.
A Whisper of Hope
You must trust Me, dear child...when I discipline you it is for
your own good and the good of My Kingdom.
When you live in humble obedience I will guide and protect your every
step, even when you veer off course and I must correct you. I do it because I love you.
Hebrews
12:5-6
And
have you entirely forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you,
His
children? He said, “My child, don't
ignore it when the Lord disciplines
you,
and don't be discouraged when He corrects you.
For the Lord disciplines
those
He loves and He punishes those He accepts as His children.” (NLT)
Those who live in the
shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the
Almighty.
(Psalm 91:1)
