Ways and Means
Psalm 119:137-138, 142
O LORD, You
are righteous, and
Your decisions are fair.
Your decrees
are perfect;
they are
entirely worthy of
our trust.
Your justice
is eternal, and Your
law is perfectly true. (NLT)
For those of us who believe
that the Living God of the Bible is the Creator and Author of life, we also
know that He created us in His image, and that we can fully trust in the Word
of God as the Absolute Truth. We can
proclaim the Truth because dishonesty is not a part of God's perfect character—He
cannot lie, because otherwise, He could not exist as God. Because the power of sin has corrupted our
hearts and minds, we cannot always discern what is true and what is not. Because of our inherent nature to sin first
and think about it later, we tend to look at the righteousness of God as a way
to take the fun and pleasure out of life—that the righteousness of God is
unfair and out dated. Because sin blinds
us from seeing the Truth as it really is, many of us struggle with God's ways
because they are foreign to us and we are a rebellious, self-centered lot who
are filled with pride and good at trusting no one, not even themselves.
But this will change when
we surrender to the Creator of creation and understand that He is the One who
created us in His image so that our lives would reflect the glory of who He
is. He did not create us to be puppets
that would need to rely on His every movement, but to live as free agents of
His righteousness so we could enjoy all that He has provided for us. For the time being we must deal with this
fallen world and our sinful natures, but it won't always be this way, because
our Savior has conquered the power of sin and death once and for all and we now
have the resurrection power of our Lord God to help us do the same. If we can trust our God to save our eternal
lives from pits of Hell, we can trust him with all things in this life on earth.
A Whisper of Hope
Come to Me, My child...and I will take away the confusion and give you
My peace. The world's ways are twisted
and degenerate and they only lead to more uncertainty. But you can trust in Me, for My ways are
perfect, righteous, and fair. They can
be nothing less.
Jeremiah
23:5, 6
“For the time
is coming,” says the LORD, “when I will place a
righteous
Branch on King David's throne. He will be a King who
rules with
wisdom. He will do what is just and
right throughout
the land. And this is His name: The LORD Is Our
Righteousness. (NLT)
“Hallelujah! Salvation is from our God.
Glory and power belong to Him alone. His
judgments are
just and true.”
(Revelation 19:1, 2)
