“Doers Listen”

 James 1:22

Prove yourselves doers of the Word,

and not merely hearers who delude themselves.  (NASB)

     We cannot not truly call ourselves “children of the Living God” and expect the many blessings that our salvation in Christ Jesus brings without actually doing what the Word of God commands us to do, because thinking otherwise is not only foolish, but it's quite dangerous as well.  It is delusional to think you can hear God’s Word, and then knowingly disobey it without any consequences.  It is clearly written in Scripture that there is a price to be paid for those who claim to hear the Word of God but go about their everyday lives as if they never heard it at all.  On Sunday the Church is filled with people who sit through the sermons to hear the Word of God, but their lives really never seem to change and sadly, they will spend their short lives here on earth going about the business of this fallen world believing their salvation is in the bag.  And how terrible it will be on the “Day of Judgment” when they hear Jesus say; “I never knew you.”   

     Only God and you know what's in your heart and mind.  You cannot hide anything from the Lord.  Because we are sinful, our hearts are filled with deceit and malevolence, and even though most of us know the difference between right and wrong, we still love our sin and it is easy to justify our motives.  No one can overcome the sinful nature that holds great power over us, especially when we don’t know and apply the Word of God to our everyday lives.  It is impossible to do what is good and right without knowing what God deems as good and right.  When you read the Word of God, and listen for His still small voice, His Truth will replace your flawed human ways with the righteous ways of God.  And that my friend, will change you from being deaf and dumb to a listener and doer, and one day you will hear King Jesus say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant,” rather than, “I never knew you.”

                                 A Whisper of Hope

Listen to My Word, dear child…and do what it says.  There are many voices in this fallen world that claim the truth is only what you want it to be.  Don’t be fooled, for there is only One Truth and only One Way to the Father in Heaven and eternal life.  I Am that Truth.  All else is from the source of all untruth and evil; the Devil—the Prince of Darkness.

Matthew 7:21-23

“Not all people who sound religious are really godly.  They may refer to Me as

‘Lord,’ but they still won’t enter the Kingdom of Heaven.  The decisive issue is

whether they obey My Father in Heaven.  On judgment day many will tell Me,

‘Lord, Lord, we prophesied in Your name and cast out demons in Your name

and performed many miracles in Your name.’  But I will reply, ‘I never knew

you.  Go away, the things you did were unauthorized.’  (NLT)
