“Live in Love”
1 John 4:7-8
Dear friends,
let us continue to love one another, for love comes
from God. Anyone who loves is born of God and knows
God. But
anyone who
does not love does not know God—for God is Love. (NLT)
Our Creator endowed us with
the ability to love—one of the many godly likenesses that our God passed on to
us. God's love is something we should
never take for granted and something we should aspire to model our lives
after. Because the Lord God loves us so
much, He became a man with flesh and blood so He could be that final
sacrificial Lamb that saved us from our self-induced eternal destruction. Being plagued with sin, most people tend to
selfishly search for the kind of love that makes us feel good, rather than
seeking out those who are unlovable and in desperate need of our love. We want to fall in love with that someone who
will satisfy our need to be loved, but we usually look in all the wrong places
and the love that we normally find is not the kind of love that draws us close
to God. The Truth is my friend, that
until you personally know God and experience His love you will never understand
what it is to love or be loved. When God
created man, He created us to love and glorify Him above all else, but instead,
we fell into a sinful state of self-gratifying love.
We live in this fallen
world believing that this life is all about ourselves; what makes me feel good
and what edifies me in the eyes of others.
When we fall for this lie and refuse to learn how to love as God first
loved us, we will never experience the richness of life. We cannot learn to love from the world,
because we are selfish by nature, self-centered by osmosis, and we tend to push
to the front of the line. Love is humility, following the Lord Jesus, and
personal sacrifice. I believe that
happiness is best found when we are
actively living and loving like Jesus.
We owe the Lord much for saving us from eternal destruction, but all He
asks for in return is that we live in love—for God and others. Because love is what this life is all about!
A
Whisper of Hope
Love Me, my
child…and love those whom I love. For
when you love others as I have loved you, you will truly know what it means to
live. From My holy view of the world
from the glory of Heaven, most humans
are certainly not very lovable, but I have chosen to love My creation because I
am Love!
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
For love is
patient and kind. Love is not jealous or
boastful or proud
or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and
it keeps no
record of when it has been wronged. It
is never glad about
injustice but
rejoices whenever the truth wins out.
Love never gives up,
never loses
faith, is always hopeful and endures through every circumstance. (NLT)
We love Him because
He loved us first.
(1 John 4:19)
