“Heavenly Body”
2 Corinthians 5:2-3
We grow weary
in our present bodies, and we long for the day when
we will put on
our heavenly bodies like new clothing.
For we will not
be spirits
without bodies, but we will put on new heavenly bodies. (NLT)
Experiencing this life is
indeed a wearing down process. Not only
because of the troubles it brings, but also because our mortal bodies will
eventually wear out and die. Because
death is a reality in this fallen world, many children and young people will
die before growing old. But for people
who are singled out by God to live a long life, they will experience the not so
fun aging process that effects both our physical and mental decline. When we live long enough to understand how
this life works and begin to experience the natural breakdown of our dying
bodies, it's quite normal to wish we could find a way to stay young
forever. It is never easy growing old,
because with aging comes pain and change, especially when our bodies begin to
decline. This kind of change is never easy to accept, but the end result is one
that we should look forward to when we are God's children. For those who are in the later stages of
decline through the natural aging process, they will either go to the grave
bitter and afraid of the unknown, or they will go in thanksgiving to God and
looking forward to their new resurrected bodies that will be the perfect age
forever.
The Lord God loves all
human beings more than we will ever comprehend this side of Heaven. He knows
first hand the pain and difficulties that we face while living in this fallen
world with a body destined to die. And
for this reason God has personally made the Way for us to overcome the fear
that the decadence of sin brings to both our bodies and the world we live
in. And when we follow His Way, we are
promised a glorified body that will never grow old and die, and we will live on
a new earth that will follow suit. This
is not a fantasy dream, my friends, but a promise from the Infinite Living God
who created us to be eternal. Although he
first man (Adam) failed and brought death and decay to everything, the second
Man (Christ Jesus) succeeded where Adam failed.
And for those who die in Christ, they, too, will receive a glorified
body that stays young and will never die.
A Whisper of Hope
A life lived
in Me, child…is one that is not lived in vain, for I know your pain. Although you must suffer for just a while, I
promise you shall never suffer again. I
paid for your new and perfect body and will make a new and perfect Heaven on
earth for you to live in.
Titus 3:4, 7
But then God
our Savior showed us His kindness and love.
He saved us, not because of the good
things we did, but
because of His mercy.
He declared us not guilty because
of His great
kindness. And now we know that we will
inherit
eternal life. (NLT)
For
the wage of sin is death,
but the
free gift of God is eternal life
through Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Romans 6:23)
